Minimum Requirements to Receive a Diploma upon Graduation
At Elite Open School, we ensure that your curriculum is specifically designed to suit your online high school needs. We provide the appropriate classes that allow you to easily transition from high school to colleges and universities, vocational schools, or the workplace. Simply select a course of study and follow your path to success!
Students earn one credit for each 36-week (yearlong) course and a half credit for each 18-week (semester) course. To fulfill graduation requirements and receive their diploma, students must acquire 19.5 credits with an average of C or higher. For our College Prep Program, they must acquire 21.5 credits with an average of C or higher.
Applying to College?
Most of our students plan on applying to colleges and universities. So it is important to remember that both 2- and 4-year colleges and universities generally have the following requirements:
- 15 academic units in English, Math, Science, Social Studies and Foreign Language
- Minimum Math requirement: Algebra 2
- Minimum Science requirement: Biology and Chemistry or Physics
- Some colleges and universities may require 2 or more years of a foreign language course.
In addition, students planning to attend a University of California campus or California State University campus will want to consider the following graduation requirements, also known as the “A-G Requirements.”
