Elite Open School Joins the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award USA Community

Founded in 1956 by HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is the world’s leading youth development award with over a million-youth participating in over 140 countries.

We are thrilled to share that Elite Open School (EOS) is now an Award Center for The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award USA. This exciting partnership opens new doors for our students in grades 5–12 to pursue personal growth, leadership, and service experiences that extend well beyond the classroom.

A Global Framework for Youth Development

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a global framework for non-formal education and learning, active in more than 120 countries and territories, with over 1.1 million participants worldwide. Each Award journey is personalized, giving students the opportunity to:

  • Develop transferable skills and new talents

  • Build physical fitness and resilience

  • Volunteer and contribute to their communities

  • Cultivate a spirit of adventure through exploration and challenge

The Award empowers young people to find their purpose, passion, and place in the world—values that deeply resonate with EOS’s mission of blended, personalized education.

Why This Matters for EOS Students

Since our founding in 2016, EOS has pioneered innovative pathways that combine adaptive curriculum, virtual instruction, and in-person support. Partnering with the Award strengthens our commitment to holistic learning by encouraging students to pursue balance across academics, service, and personal growth.

Through the Award, EOS students can design a journey tailored to their interests. Whether it’s learning a new skill, training for a fitness goal, serving in the community, or preparing for an expedition, every student’s path will be unique.

How to Get Involved

EOS students can start the Award beginning at the Bronze level, with opportunities to progress to Silver and Gold. Program activities will be supported by trained EOS staff, who will mentor and guide students throughout their Award journey.
